1918
January 8: President Woodrow Wilson of the United States of America, in his message on the Conditions of Peace delivered at a Joint Session of the Two Houses of the American Congress, identifies the "14 points" intended to serve as the basis for world peace. Point 14 states:
"A general association of nations must be formed under specific covenants for the purpose of affording mutual guarantees of political independence and territorial integrity to great and small states alike."
This point laid the basis for post-war peace and ultimately became the foundation of the League of Nations.

April 18: The Paris Peace Conference unanimously adopts the resolution of The League of Nations.
1920
January 10: The intergovernmental organisation, The League of Nations, was founded as a result of the '14 Point Plan' and the Paris Peace Conference that ended the First World War. Permanent chairman M. Clemenceau proposed that such a league was to be organised by international cooperation for the purpose of making secure international obligations and safeguarding the nations against war.
September 2: The First Assembly of the League convened by President Wilson, Geneva. 41 states sent representatives.
1924
October 1: Assembly opening Protocol for the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes for signature by the Members.
December 24: Costa Rica gives notice of withdrawal from the League of Nations.
1926
June 14: Brazil gives notice of withdrawal from the League of Nations.
September 8: Admission of Germany to the League. Germany was made a permanent Member of the Council.
On this day, Spain gives notice of withdrawal from the League of Nations.
1931

July 10: Honduras gives notice of withdrawal from the League of Nations.
October 10: The Assembly appoints a Committee of 28 to study the Application of Principles of the Covenant.
1937
July 8: Signature by Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey of a Treaty of Non-Aggression and Protocol establishing an understanding between the Near Eastern Countries.
July 26: Salvador gives notice of withdrawal from the League of Nations.
December 11: Italy gives notice of withdrawal from the League of Nations.
1938
June 2: Chile gives notice of withdrawal from the League of Nations.
July 12: Venezuela gives notice of withdrawal from the League of Nations.
1946
April 18: The League transfers all its assets to the United Nations. Contract signed by W. Moderow, representative of the League and Sean Lester, the last Secretary-General of the League of Nations. As part of this agreement, the League granted the new Secretariat full control of it assets including buildings and properties, the Library, archives and all historical collections.
